As a web developer for Springbox, a fast-paced interactive agency in Austin, I was involved in the redesign and re-creation of Premiere Global’s main website, along with the development of a multitude of international sites. This site involved complex CSS and JavaScript.

During the summer of 2008, my friends embarked on a project that involved remodeling and doubling the square footage of a home in the historic Brykerwoods neighborhood of Austin. I built a website that documents the project from start to finish. It is run on Wordpress.

The current version of my personal site and gallery has a black-and-white design (with a tint of red). It is entirely driven by XSLT with PHP in the back-end and JavaScript in the front-end. The content is pulled from RSS and XML feeds of various web applications and services I use.

SXSW Interactive Guide

I created this Flash/Google Maps mashup for Austin360.com to help users search for and find SXSW 2007 events. The guide’s most interesting feature is its integration with Google Maps to plot event locations. Users can view event details and filter results based on event type, date, categories, artist, and venue. The database included over 300 events. I designed and implemented the guide within a week of its conception.

SoundCheck multimedia player

The SoundCheck music and video player was my first big project as a Web Developer for the Austin American-Statesman. In addition to basic music and video playback features, it provides artist info and help sections. It also includes advanced filter, sort, search, and custom playlist capabilities. The player is entirely ActionScript-driven and interacts with a Python-based web framework (Django). Also, I designed the player to support the open-standards XML playlist format XSPF.

Early in 2006 I had a sudden urge to redo my site. With all the Flash tricks that I was learning as a Multimedia Developer at Darden, I decided to create it all in Flash. I wrote all of the ActionScript underlying the site’s layout and visual effects. The site content resided in a MySQL database, and I used PHP to pass the data into Flash.
